Once all the interior had been dry vacuumed, i steam cleaned the roof lining fabric to remove all the smoke odour and nicotine, i also scrubbed and steam cleaned all the vinyl surfaces including door panels, dash, centre console, steering wheel and controls.

It was then time to apply the cleaning agent to all the seats and carpets, after a mechanical scrub i extracted using a professional machine which left the fabric touch dry.

To finish, all plastics and vinyl surfaces were dressed using a non silicone dressing, inside windows were then cleaned.

This interior took me 4 hours to complete and the results speak for themselves!

The customer had mentioned that soon after the car was purchased from a second hand Ford dealer, the upholstery started to look very dirty. This is the usual case with poor quality valeting and the dealer had charged my customer extra to have the upholstery “Superguarded”

Having worked in the motor trade i can hand on heart say the Superguard products are rubbish!

Anyway… here is a short video showing some of the various stages, before shooting i vacuumed the seats, and once the cleaning had been completed i applied the nano protector which  protects the fabric against liquid spillages, premature wear and permanent  staining.

The surrounding plastic trim was wiped down, engine running with heaters blowing to accelerate drying, by the time i had finished and packed up the fabric was almost touch dry!

The property has to be handed back to the letting agent or land lord in an acceptable condition in order to receive 100% of  the deposit.

Nearly all tenancy agreements will stipulate that the carpets should be professionally cleaned before the keys are returned, in some cases the agent will insist on written proof from the carpet cleaner that the job has been carried out and in most cases inspect the quality of the clean.

Its a bit of a dilemma when faced with an extra expense you really could do without, after all the cost of getting a professional carpet cleaner is something you could do without!

The objective here is to get that deposit back ASAP….

Here are a few tips to help…

1. Forget trying to hire a carpet cleaning machine and do the job yourself, your tenancy agreement will clearly state that a professional should carry out the job.
2. Find out from the agent if the agreement insists on a “Steam Clean” failure to meet this level of clean could result in monies being withheld
3. Carpet cleaners who refuse or cant produce a receipt are not going to be much use to you.
4. A receipt without a professional clean is also no use… Agents and landlords have got wise to this!
5. The cheapest possible quote will no doubt save you money as long as the landlord or agent is happy with the quality of the clean… is it worth the risk?

We would strongly advise people to call around and obtain around 3 quotes, make sure the carpet cleaner explains exactly what they propose to do for the fee, type of service and method, this will have a bearing on cost and ultimately the results.

The sofa was constructed from a synthetic fibre and had severe soiling on the arms caused by… hair gel!

The apartment was in a complex which offered 24 hour care for the elderly in Farnham, Surrey.

The guy featured in this video claims he can clean 2 rooms and a hallway in around 45 mins! not only is this completely unrealistic but he has clearly missed out one very important part of the cleaning process… pre vacuum!

On average it would personally take me at least 25 mins to vacuum these three areas, the pre vac will lift a high percentage of dry soil from the carpet which makes the extraction stage easier. The detergents used to clean this carpet are not only applied as a pre spray, but also in the solution tank… would you rinse the shampoo out of your hair with soapy water? of course not!

The machine featured has a fraction of the vacuum power of a professional machine and this is why the man has to make 4 dry passes after just 1 wet pass! still think those 3 areas are going to take 45 mins?? REMEMBER… those clean and dirty water tanks don’t fill and empty them selves!

Even in the hands of a trained professional, this machine will provide limited results and no doubt just wet the carpets instead of really cleaning them!

Pictures were taken before…

We cleaned a two seater, arm chair and foot stool… using detergent free solutions which didn’t require hot water so the ladies hot water tank was still full when we finished!

Years of dirt, dust, food spillages and human sweat were extracted from the fabric restoring colour to the patten and eliminating any nasty odours .

As an example this particular job took us about 3 hours to complete and we charged £150, thanks to our powerful extraction equipment the fabric was near dry by the time we had packed up.
